Information Technology is at the heart of education in the 21st century.
We foster an environment which values the ethical use of technology and use ICT to nurture a love of learning.
The use of ICT across all learning areas from Reception to Year 12 is an integral part of the teaching and learning program. Students at Caritas College have extensive access to technology at school.
All ICT services at Caritas College are supported by the ICT Policy (see below).
At Caritas College we are committed to providing an excellent Catholic education in the Josephite tradition to enable students to reach their full potential. We understand and value the role of information technology (IT) in 21st century learning, and endeavour to use it to inspire a love of learning. Therefore, we are pleased to communicate to families that from 2020 the college commenced a 1:1 Laptop Program for all students in Years 7-12.
All laptops will be owned, managed and maintained by the College to ensure a consistent and equitable learning platform for the 7-12 students. Students will be able to use them between home and school for their learning. Each student will be responsible for their own laptop, and will need to adhere to a user agreement that provides clear information about their rights and responsibilities of having a school owned device.
The 2024 fee structure has been extended to include the supply of stationery items for all students. Families will no longer be required to order these supplies at the beginning of each school year. Stationery items will be distributed to students on the first day of school in 2024. Please note that R-6 students do not require a pencil case.
Senior Secondary students undertaking Mathematics in Year 11 and 12 are required to use graphics calculators for several topics. Therefore, it is recommended that students in Year 10 purchase a graphics calculator to familiarise themselves with the technology and to meet future course requirements. SACE Board of SA have stipulated that only certain graphics calculators may be used, and the Casio fx-CG50AU graphics calculator is the one selected by Caritas College.
